A book review
by Meryllin Ramos
The gentleman carmelo
de Abraham Valdelomar is one of his stories
published in November 1913.
This story is criticized as the best fictional
creation, one of the most perfect stories of Peruvian literature.
This story is about the infant life of the
author when he lived in Pisco, his father was doing cock fights, one day his
son Roberto gave him a fighting cock.
After many victories of this cock, on July 28
the father took the knight Carmelo to a fight and this was the last day of life
of this animal since he was very old and the opponent "the ajiseco"
was very young.
In my opinion I think that this story was one
of the best in Peuana literature because it narrates the life of the author in
his childhood. It is a very beautiful story where there are mixed feelings.
